Anne Ivory

Artists (A-M)

I am a native of Bray and have been drawing, painting and knitting since my primary school days. I am mostly self-taught, but I have taken some art classes. I have taken part in art workshops in St. Cronan's School with the Artists' Circle Bray with visiting Irish and international artists; in Ferns, Co. Wexford; Blessington, Co. Wicklow; and Devon, England.

I have exhibited paintings at the St. Cronan’s Annual Christmas Art and Craft Fair; Bray Churches Together Exhibition and also in Enniskerry, Killiney and Dublin. I have been a member of the Artists' Circle Bray since its foundation in 2003.

In recent years, I have a stall at St. Cronan's Christmas Craft Fair to sell my knitted items, these are mainly soft toys: - snowmen, Christmas trees, Christmas puddings, Santa Claus and Mrs Claus, Victorian ladies and gents, dolls, bears, rabbits, donkeys and leprechauns. My knitted toys are travelling the world from various counties in Ireland to Gaza, U.S.A., Australia and Germany.

I enjoy our Monday nights to paint and draw using all art mediums, from watercolours to oils to pencils. Lately, I have started experimenting with acrylics. From January to September I paint or draw, but from September to Christmas I bring my knitting to prepare for the Craft Fair and commissions. Our gatherings are very much a social event too, where like-minded people get to chat, share expertise and have a cuppa.
